Fines Creek, Lenard V. Haynes, 72, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2017 at his residence.

A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Hascue Lenard and Ruby Jean Ledford Haynes and was also preceded in death by a great-grandson, Blake Tyler Flood. Lenard's life centered on his family and the Fines Creek Community. Upon his retirement, he cared for his aging parents on Rush Fork. Between the appointments and obligations, Lenard loved taking long drives on country roads and also reading his many Bible studies. Papaw Lenard was a caring father, papaw and great-papaw. He will be greatly missed.

Lenard is survived by a daughter, Melody Haynes of Arden; two sons, Michael Haynes of Waynesville and Victor Haynes of Sylva; six grandchildren, Sara Scott, Evan Flood, as well as Dylan, Garrett, Dustin and Kimberly Haynes; and three great-grandchildren, Spencer Ashbrook, Peyton Scott and Samuel Norton.

The family plans to have a private service.
