Leona Augur

Leona Mae Augur, 80, of Asheville died Wednesday, April 22, 2009 in her home supported by her loving husband and children following an extended illness. She was the daughter of the late Leo and Ethel Lumsden Moreau. Born in Concord, MA she lived most of her life in NC but never lost her persevering Yankee spirit.

She loved gardening and made the world a more beautiful place by planting hundreds of trees, shrubs and flowers. She also loved projects including building her own home.

Survivors include her husband Lt. Col. Robert Augur of the home, daughter, Susan Stewart and husband Michael of Rutherfordton, sons, Ford Warrick Jr. and partner Leo of Greensboro, J. Warrick and wife Alicia of Greensboro, grandson, Aidan Warrick, step-sons, Charles Augur and wife Rosemary of Lexington, Robert Augur Jr. and wife Marion in Germany and Richard Augur and wife Rhonda of Barnardsville. She leaves behind many devoted friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2pm in the Chapel of Faith at Forest Lawn with the Rev. Buddy Corbin officiating. The family will receive friends in the chapel an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the park.
