Waynesville-Leona Pearl Cagle Carver, age 91, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 28, 2006. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Jess and Artie Moody Cagle. She was also preceded in death by an infant son and a daughter, Tulan Garnes. She was a homemaker and a member of East Waynesville Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir. She loved to work in her garden and enjoyed flowers. She was a wonderful cook and was known for her fried chicken and biscuits. She also loved to camp with her husband, Claymer, and enjoyed canning with her husband as well. She was a very loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 74 years, Claymer Carver; two daughters, Thelma Lowe and her husband, Frank, and Edith Nichols and her husband, Albert, all of Waynesville; two sisters, Vanita Messer, of Waynesville and Edna Newkirk of Lancaster, OH; one brother, Groce Cagle, of Waynesville; five grandchildren, William Albert Nichols of Harrisville, PA, Roger and Marty Lowe of Waynesville, Darlene Worley of Candler, and Cherri Eller of Raleigh; nine great grandchildren, Candice Eller, Mekenzie and Tyler Lowe, Rachel Nichols, Julie Beth Barker, Brent Lowe, and Sarah, Natalie and Travis Worley; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 2006 at East Waynesville Baptist Church with Reverend Ted Reeves, Reverend Neal Eller, and Reverend Josh Walls officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to services at the church. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons.
