Leona Sorrells

Waynesville-Leona Leophard Sorrells, age 93, of 162 Trafalger Drive, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2005 at Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia, NC. A native of Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Flori Rabb Leophard. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James Sorrells, who died in 1983; two daughters, Christine Sorrells and Margie Brock Garner; a son, James Sorrells, Jr.; three sisters, Grace Dillard, Mary Bleau, and Florence Davis; and three brothers, Carl, Hugh, and James Henry Leophard. She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Sorrells of Gastonia, NC; a son, Ralph H. Sorrells, of Canton; a sister, Helen Jean Waybright, of Waynesville; 16 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren as well as other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 30, 2004 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend G.W. Jameson officiating. Burial will follow at Red Bank Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2005 at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
