Leonard B. Holder, age 81, died Monday, November 17, 2008 at the Brian Center in Weaverville. A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Ab and Ethel Lee Tiller Holder. He was preceded in death by his wife, Colleen Baldwin Holder, who died in 1999; two sisters, Eula and Mary; and five brothers, Gerald, Bud, Troy, Ralph, and Henry. Leonard retired from Champion International and was a champion old timer. He was of the Baptist faith. Leornard was a United States Army veteran having served in German and Japan during World War II and in the Korean Conflict. He is survived by two sisters, Polly Reno and her husband, Dan, of Clyde, and Thelma Sams of West Blocton, AL; one brother, Denver Ray Holder and his wife, Mary, of Canton; and several nieces and nephews including two special nephews, Denver Holder of Canton, and David Holder of Hendersonville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 20, 2008 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Kenneth Rhinehart officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Old Clyde Road. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
