Leroy Owens

Waynesville, Leroy Owens, age 69, passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at his residence.

A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Sig and Mattie Phillips Owens, in addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a Grandson, Hunter Uhl. Leroy was employed with Massie Furniture. Leroy's heart belonged to his family. The love of his life and soul mate, Brenda, along with his children and grandchildren were his pride. He was a trader, gardener and a man who could provide great advice. Leroy also loved animals, especially his dog, Freddy and cat, Sunshine.

Leroy is survived by his wife of 51 years, Brenda Owens; daughter, Jennifer Uhl, and her husband, William, of Easley, South Carolina; son, Greg Owens, and his wife, Jenny, of Waynesville; two brothers, Jimmy Owens, and his wife, Holly and Tommy Owens, all of Waynesville; four grandchildren, Alex and Aaron Bradley, Trey Uhl, and Calvin Owens.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 6, 2017 at Cove Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Roscoe Wentworth, Reverend Jerry Nelson and Reverend Billy Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow at Owens Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
