Lewis Thomason

"1944 – 2016" Canton – Lewis L "Lew" Thomason, age 71, passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2016. A native of Catawba County, he was a son of the late Wiley and Rachel Stamey Thomason. Lew lived most of his life in Haywood County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Ann Clark Thomason, who died in 2006; a son, Lewis Brian Thomason. Having retired in 2007, Lew worked at Blue Ridge Paper for 32 years and was a United States Army veteran having served in Vietnam. He is survived by a daughter Crystal Thomason and friend, Mark Bennett, of Canton; a son, Derrick Thomason and friend, Karrie Lewis, of Canton; a sister, JoAnn Jones of Canton; two brothers, Jerry Thomason of Canton and Roger Thomason and wife, Rita, of Caser; four granddaughters; and two great-granddaughters. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Michael Lee , Chaplain of Four Seasons Hospice, officiating. Burial will follow at Sunny Point Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
