Waynesville-Libbie Anne Stoklasa Litchfield, age 81, passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2006 at her residence. A native of Weleetka, Oklahoma, Libbie was the daughter of the late Frank and Libbie Walla Stoklasa. After high school, Libbie worked as a secretary for firms in Bartlesville, OK, New Orleans, LA, and Dallas, TX. She became a homemaker in 1950 when she married Alfred Furber Litchfield. They spent more than thirty years in the Dallas-Fort Worth area before retiring to Camden, Maine, where they lived for twelve years. They moved to Durham, NC in 1996. Libbie was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred, who died in 1999. She moved to Haywood County in April 2001. Libbie was an active member of the Haywood County Extension Master Gardeners and enjoyed working with the children in the school garden at Junaluska Elementary School. Libbie also enjoyed researching and writing about her Czech heritage. Her grandparents immigrated to this country from Moravia in the 1880s. Libbie is survived by one daughter, Carol Sue Litchfield, of Waynesville; one son, Robert Paul Litchfield, of San Antonio, TX; a brother, Franklin Stoklasa and wife, Bonnie, of Choctaw, OK; and five nieces. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 6, 2006 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Junaluska Garden Project through the Extension Master Gardener Volunteers. Make donations payable to Extension Education Fund, P.O. Box 308, Waynesville, NC 28786 to benefit the Junaluska School Garden Project.
