Waynesville-Lillian Turner Arrington, age 80, of 48 Sheriff's Drive, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was born on July 18, 1926 to the late Joseph Roy Turner Sr. and Mary Jennings Frazier Turner. In addition to her parents, her husband of 57 years, C. Jack Arrington, former sheriff of Haywood County, and a son, Robert Stephen Arrington, who both died in 2006; one brother, Joseph R. Turner, Jr.; and a sister Joyce Ann Trawick Kruger preceded her in death. Lillian graduated from Waynesville Township High School and Western Carolina Teacher's College. She was employed over 20 years by the Haywood County Hospital and Haywood County Department of Social Services. She was a member of Elizabeth Chapel United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was an active member in the Haywood County Democratic Party, and loved to sing, cook, play the piano, knit, read, garden, spend time with her friends, and spoil her grandchildren. During her period of declining health, the visits provided by her friends of the WMW, neighbors, and family were a great source of comfort and fellowship. For this expression of Christ's love, her family is truly grateful. She is survived by one daughter, Mary Elizabeth Arrington; two sons, Jack T. Arrington and C. Joe Arrington and his wife, Sherri; two grandsons, Benjamin and Calan; two granddaughters, Jessica and Jasmine; three great grandchildren, Marcus, Kiery, and Kobe; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2007 at Elizabeth Chapel United Methodist Church. Serving as pallbearers will Ben Parker, Harley Bumgarner, Jim Parton, Ben Patterson, Dewayne Trawick, and Harold Trawick. Honorary pallbearers will be Red Arrington, Tim Arrington, William Arrington, Bobby Balance, Bobby Constance, Mike Dehart, Doug Earley, Jim Mackey, Mike McDaniel, Kip Ray, Tom Parris, Roger Reeves, Rhett Thurmond. Interment will follow at Ratcliff Cove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday evening at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
