Lillian Deaver Justice, age 90, passed away on Monday, February 03, 2014 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Lola S. Deaver. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Robert Lowery Justice, Jr., and two brothers, Jack and Ken Deaver. Lillian spent much of her life praising the Lord through music. Her talents and gifts included participating for 51 years in the Adult Choir of First Baptist Church of Canton, many years celebrating in song with the Baracca quartet at First Baptist Church, and teaching Sunday School. She spent 18 years with a barbershop harmony chorus, the Song O Sky chapter of the Sweet Adelines. She was a gifted musician who loved the piano, keyboard, accordion, and bass guitar. She will be remembered for her years of service at Pennsylvania Avenue School, where as crossing guard, she maintained the safety of students before and after school. During her residency at Silver Bluff Village, she often entertained her friends with many renditions of music of the 1930's and 1940's and her great sense of humor was appreciated by everyone who knew her. Her gifts blessed many people with whom she came in contact. Lillian is survived by her children, Robert L. Justice III (Pamela) of Waynesville, Debbie J. Lewis of Canton, and Kevin Justice (Debbie) of Waynesville. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Karen J. Hopkins (Henry), Brooke L. Dorlan (Travis), Haley L. Ensley, and Alison J. McDowell (Ben). Lillian was blessed with eight very special great-grandchildren who made her life much brighter! Her surviving siblings include Norma Messer Caudle, J.D. Deaver, Janet Frady, Martha June Buchanan, all of Canton, Gary Deaver of Waynesville, and Pat Chambers of Charlotte. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. Jack B. Sammons officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service.
