Canton- Lillie Sharp Wiggins, age 90, of Hungry Creek Road died Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at her residence. She was a native of Haywood County, and the daughter of the late John and Edna Grogan Sharp. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Patrick Henry Wiggins; one son, William Wiggins; three sisters, Gladys Henson, Helen Spivey and Opal Sharp and one brother, John B. Sharp. Lillie was an avid quilter. In her younger years, she enjoyed working in the field with her father and brother. Lillie captured the heart of Patrick Wiggins after her impressive performance with the cross-cut saw, in 1938. She is survived by one daughter, Nancy McNew, and her husband, Kent, of Annapolis, MD., one nephew, Sam Sharp and his wife, Patricia, of Canton; two nieces, Sharon Franklin, and her husband, Hugh, of Clyde, and Lisa Cabe of Candler and many other nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at East Fork Baptist Church. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 25, 2008 at the church. Burial will follow at New Cruso Cemetery with the Reverends Greg Cullen, Johnny Foster and Wayne Willett officiating.
