WAYNESVILLE-Linda Louise Russell Beck, 70, of Waynesville, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, July 8th, 2012 at The Homestead at Medwest. She was born in Haywood County, October 4th, 1941 to Willard Edgar Russell and Evelyn Patton Russell. She was a member of Balsam Missionary Baptist Church where she praised and served the Lord and sang in the choir. She was also an avid gardener who loved her flowers and life itself. She had a special love for her family especially her grandchildren & 3 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her father, Willard E. Russell. She is survived by her husband of 48 years James Arthur Beck, one son Steve Beck and his wife Paula of Waynesville, one daughter Susan Beck Smith and her husband Chad of Crabtree, a grandson Tyler Beck and his wife Meagan, 3 great-grandchildren Brayden Michael, Auburn Winter and Ellen Lucille. Three sisters Beulah Mae Phillips and her husband the late Ray of Jackson County, Barbara Ann Downs and her husband Marvin of Haywood County, Patsy Russell of Haywood County, one brother Willard "Buddy" Edgar Russell, Jr. of Jackson County and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Balsam Missionary Baptist Church. Reverend Johnny Swanger will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Wells Funeral Home in Waynesville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Balsam Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 280, Balsam, NC 28707.
