Linda Gibbs

Waynesville, Linda Ann Mathis Gibbs, 68, passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at The Homestead. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Dan Hubert and Betty Sue Rhinehart Mathis. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Patty Mathis Moncrief. Linda was a 1966 graduate of Bethel High School. She loved playing video games and crocheting. She is survived by two sons, Gary Marc Gibbs of Waynesville and Keith Wayne Gibbs and his wife, Jessica, of Los Angeles, California; and a daughter, Tonya Diane Gibbs Burton and her husband, Faron, of Waterloo, South Carolina; two sisters, Gail Mathis Norris of Canton and Peggy Mathis Phillips and her husband, Doug, of Canton; a brother, Danny Willard Mathis and his wife, Angie, of Canton; six grandchildren, Travis Gibbs, Brownwynn Rawlings, Christopher Gibbs, Charlotte Gibbs, Lee Rhodes and Kaitlin Rhodes; five great-grandchildren, Jackob, Jaycee, Brantlee and Taylee Gibbs and Colton Rhodes; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2017 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Donnie Henson officiating. Burial will follow at New Cruso Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times the family is gathering at the home of Timmy Norris, 179 Hall Drive, Waynesville, NC. Serving as pallbearers will be Linda's nephews, Tony Norris, Timmy Norris, Michael Norris, Jason Mathis, Nathan Mathis and Andrew Mathis.
