Linda Rathbone

Linda Gail Sheehan Rathbone, age 60, of the North Canton Community went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, June 2, 2009. A native of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late Leonard James and Thelma Irene Shipley Sheehan. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Jim, Bill, and Riley Sheehan; and two sisters, Zetta Mae Burns and Ruth Wykle. Linda was a wonderful wife and mother who always put her family before herself. She worked at Canton Health Care and Carolina Shoe Co. before she became disabled. She enjoyed seeing new places and just spending time with her family. Last year she had her first grandchild. She was so proud to be a Mamaw. She was a godly Christian woman who loved her Savior. She always kept her family in church. She faithfully attended Open Bible Church for many years. The last few years of her life she attended Rocky Face Baptist Church when she was able to go. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Richard Rathbone; one son, Tony Rathbone and his fiancé, Hope Malec, of Sylva; one daughter, Monica Stevens and her husband, Michael, of Canton; one granddaughter, Sadie Stevens of Canton; three stepchildren, Mickey Rathbone and his wife, Teresa, of Whittier, Vicky Henson and her husband, Tim, of Dillsboro, and Ricky Rathbone of White Pine, TN; three step grandchildren; three sisters, Janice Rathbone of Waynesville, Barbara Fraley of NJ, and Jean Boone of Morganton. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2009, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Jerry Nelson, Reverend Robert Elliott, and Reverend Donnie Henson officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Scott, Tom, and David Rathbone, Matthew Massie, Jeff Manning, and John Page. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 90 Stiles Road, Canton, NC 28716.
