Linda Boyette Simmons, age 67, passed from this world on July 31, 2008 at Johnson City Medical Center in Tennessee. Born in Tampa, FL, she was the daughter of the late Louie and Cornelia Lee Boyette. She graduated from Hillsborough High, Tampa, in 1958. She continued her education at the University of Tampa graduating in 1963 with a BA in Education. After having taught for 33 plus years, she retired in 2003, having taught the last 20 years of her career at Beasley Middle School in Palatka, Fl. She was also a member of Who's Who in American Colleges. She is survived by her son Charles Hal Lyle, II, ;his wife Beth, and their son Charles Zackary Lyle of Clyde, NC' also a sister, Lucy Gabbert, her husband Tate, of Sarasota, FL; and a nephew, Tate Lee Gabbert of Seattle, WA. She also leaves behind an uncle and aunts all of the Tampa area and many close friends of whose hearts she touched. A celebration of her life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 16, 2008 in the Memorial Chapel at 50 Chapel Drive, Lake Junaluska, NC 28745 with the Reverend Alan Mears officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Children's Ministry at Long's Chapel United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 459, Lake Junaluska, NC 28745 with a designation to the Children's Ministries.
