Haywood County, Lizzie Beasley, age 93, passed away peacefully in her sleep and went to be with the Lord, on Wednesday, October 9, 2013. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Bill and Lelia James Parks. She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Beasley, who died in 1988; a daughter-in-law, Pauline Beasley; and two brothers, Jack and Kenneth Parks. Lizzie loved everyone and they loved her, especially her church family at Dellwood Baptist Church. She collected porcelain dolls, loved to sew, and enjoyed seeing the animals on her visits to Chattahoochee and Cades Cove. She is survived by a son, William "Bill" Beasley; six sisters, Doshia Buchanan of Morganton, NC, Irene Hill, Grovene Presnell, and Hilda Ewart and her husband, Grover, all of Waynesville, and Bobbie Whitaker and Judy Mathews and her husband, Harold, of Canton; two brothers, Jerry Parks and his wife, Carol, of Thomasville and Ernest Justice, of Waynesville; a grandson, Terry Wayne Beasley and his wife, Vickie, of Clyde; and a host of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Friday at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville. Funeral services will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jason Ledford and Pastor Mark Caldwell officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at Crabtree Baptist Church Cemetery. At other times, the family will receive friends at her grandson's home at 793 Old Clyde Road in Clyde.
