Lois Buckner

December 10, 1920 — November 28, 2003

Waynesville-Lois Liner Buckner, age 82, of 107 Chestnut Park Drive, died Friday, November 28, 2003 at Autumn Care Nursing Home.

She was a native of Haywood County and was the daughter of the late Samuel Paxton and Cara Snyder Liner. She was the wife of the late Leo L. Buckner, Jr. who died in 2001. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Henry ''Hal'' Liner, and by a grandson, Michael Aaron Buckner, who died in 1991.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Waynesville where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She held various employments during her life for the Dayco Corporation, Reliable Jewelers, a receptionist for Dr. Jack Davis, Waynesville Pharmacy with 18 years of service, the owner and operator of the Country Mouse for 7 years, and former partner of Super Holiday Travel. She was a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts, and a member and past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by a daughter, Brenda Dockery and her husband, James of Waynesville; a son, Bob Buckner and his wife, Donna of Waynesville; two sisters, Louise Higgins and Polly Roberts, both of Canton; four brothers, Jack Liner of Marshville, William Liner of Waynesville, George Rufus Liner of Hickory, and Gene Liner of Royal Oak, Michigan; four grandchildren, Ginger Zsambeky, Andrew Buckner, Kristin Moore, Lyn Metzger; and five great grandchildren, Emily Moore, Turner Zsambeky, Erin Moore, Parish Metzger, and Leah Catherine Zsambeky.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 1, 2003 in the Chapel of the First Baptist Church of Waynesville. The Reverend Dr. Robert Prince will officiate. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Monday, prior to the services, at the church. At other times, the family will be at the home of Bob and Donna Buckner, 99 Hazelview Drive, Waynesville, NC 28786.

Memorials may be made to the Michael Aaron Buckner Scholarship Fund, c/o WCU Foundation, H. F. R. Robinson Building, Cullowhee, NC 28723.

Wells Funeral Home in Waynesville is in charge of arrangements.
