Lois Sanford Hall, age 89, passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at her residence. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late James Isam and Dovie Leona Lee Sanford. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William M. "Bill" Hall; a niece, whom she raised as a daughter, Claudine Queen Thompson; two sisters, Pearl Sanford Shelton and Blanche Sanford; two brothers, Reeves and Claude Sanford; three maternal half siblings, Mattie T. Glasscock, Arthur Trantham and Elmira Trantham; and two paternal half siblings, Bertha Sanford Overman and Moody Sanford. She retired from American Enka Corporation and was a member of Dutch Cove Baptist Church. Lois loved the mountains that she called home, spending time outdoors going for walks and especially enjoyed fishing. She also was a collector of bells and magnets from her many travels and also loved her cats. Near and dear to her heart was her family whom she loved and always had photos of them displayed at her home. She will be remembered for always being helpful and kind to everyone. She is survived by a sister, Dolly Sanford Thompson of Canton. Lois loved all of her nieces and nephews and held a special place in her heart for her niece, Sherry Morrow and her husband, Bobby, of Canton and her nephew, Anthony Thompson and his wife, Shellie, and their son, Dakota Thompson of Canton. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Ralph Rawls officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
