Lois Mcedwards

Waynesville, Lois Massie McEdwards passed away on Monday, May 25, 2015 in Ft. Myers, Florida. Lois was born in Waynesville, North Carolina to the late Thomas Guy and Hettie Mock Massie and was also preceded in death by her husband, Jim McEdwards. During her teaching career in physical education, she lived in many places including Florida, Tennessee, Germany and Louisville, Kentucky, where she taught women's physical education at the University of Louisville for 30 years. While in Louisville, Lois met and married Jim McEdwards. Her education was extensive including under-graduate, master and doctorate degrees in physical education. Lois retired from the University of Louisville and moved to Ft. Myers where, for the last 15 years, she lived in Shell Point Retirement Community. She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church, being involved in their many programs. Lois was an avid golfer and was actively enjoying the game until declining health a few years ago. Lois is survived by her brother, Robert Massie and his wife, Sarah, of Waynesville, North Carolina; nephew, David Massie and his wife, Kim, of Greer, South Carolina; and niece, Laura Howell and her husband, Dean, and their children, Luke and Ethan Howell, all of Waynesville.
