Lois Pippin

Waynesville, Lois Bryson Pippin, age 98, passed away on Monday, January 7, 2013 at Smoky Mountain Health and Rehabilitation Center. A native of Haywood County, she was a former resident of Pennsylvania and Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late Carl W. Bryson and Ninnie McElroy Bryson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Duane W. Pippin, who died in 1996; six sisters, Ruby Green, Jessie Humphery, Billie Davis, Pansy Reeves, Edna Davis, Ila Lepely; a brother, Mack Bryson; and one sibling at birth. Lois attended Blanton's Business College and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Waynesville Chapter 165 and served as past Worthy Matron. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. Lois is survived by two sons, David Hayes Pippin and his wife, Marjorie, of Charlotte and Donald Duane Pippin and his wife, Gail, of Wagontown, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Sally Kate Phillips of Waynesville and Susie Richards of Rossville, Georgia; one brother, Duane Bryson, of Waynesville; four granddaughters, Lauren Lawrence and her husband, Mark, and Jennifer Almond of Charlotte, Amy O'Grady and her husband, John, and Rachel Pippin of Wagontown, Pennsylvania; and five great-grandchildren, Greg and Katie Almond, Cole and Ivey Lawrence, and Suzzane Angstadt. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Antioch Baptist Church with Reverend Steven Taylor, and Reverend Larry A. Reeves officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
