Lois Poston

November 18, 1924 — January 20, 2009

Lois Farmer Poston, age 84, died Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late David and Lovie Revis Farmer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard "Buster" Poston, who died in 1990; six brothers and four sisters. Lois retired from BASF Corporation in 1988 with 28 years of service. She loved being around her family and was a very independent, hard worker, and good mother. Lois was an avid fan of basketball and baseball, especially the Atlanta Braves. She loved her grandchildren very much along with country and southern gospel music. Lois was a personal friend of Randy Owen and a fan and supporter of the band "Alabama". She is survived by three daughters, Linda Pitts and her husband, Bruce, and Jean Summey, all of Canton, and Pat Whiteside and her husband, Dennis, of Decatur, AL; one brother, Raymond Farmer and his wife, Mary Ann, of Canton; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a special niece, Judy Grasty. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 23, 2009 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Pastor Nathan Ashe and Reverend Brandon Mendez officiating. Burial will follow at New Cruso Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence of Linda Pitts, 320 Mill Dam Lane, Canton.
