Lois Davis Tipton, age 81, passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native of Jackson County, she had lived in Haywood County for over 50 years and was the daughter of the late Absolom Jarrett and Ollie Wikle Davis. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, James Windell Tipton, who died in 2007 and a daughter, Brenda Tipton, who died in 1998; three sisters; and a brother. She retired from Wellco Enterprises in 1993 with 31 years of service and was a member of Laurel Grove Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Shelbia Crawford and her husband, Avery, and Shirley Ferguson and her husband, Reverend Billy Ferguson, all of Canton; a son, Jimmy Tipton and his wife, Kelly, of Canton; three sisters, Gladys Hooper of Franklin, Ocie Stinnett of Horse Shoe, and Vaudie Davis of Canton; three brothers, Dallas Davis of Canton, A. J. Davis of Waynesville, and Hanley Davis of Knoxville, Tennessee; four grandchildren; and 2 great granddaughters. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 6, 2013 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Davis Hooper officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
