Lois Owenby Williams, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2024. Born in Buncombe County on May 10, 1940, Lois touched the lives of many with her kindness and unwavering spirit.
Throughout her career as co-owner/operator of Smokey Mountain Recreation, Lois brought joy to numerous individuals and families, creating lasting memories for all who crossed her path.
A faithful member of the West Canton Baptist Church, Lois found solace and community within its walls. Her spiritual devotion enriched not only her own life but also inspired those around her.
Lois Owenby Williams was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Grover and Dempsey Ledbetter Owenby, as well as her husband, Dudley Denver Williams, who passed away in 2019. In this time of mourning, she leaves behind a legacy that will continue to resonate with those who knew her.
Mrs. Williams is survived by her loving daughter, Linda Lee Williams, and devoted son, Daryl Dudley Williams, both residing in Canton. Additionally, she is survived by her cherished granddaughter, Peyton Crowley. Lois's family and friends will forever hold dear the memories they shared with her and the impact she had on their lives.
A Memorial Service to honor and remember the life of Lois Owenby Williams will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at East Waynesville Baptist Church, 175 Woodland Drive, Waynesville, NC 28786 (temporary home of West Canton Baptist Church). May her legacy of kindness, dedication, and love live on in the hearts of all those who were fortunate enough to know her.
