Lola Brown

Waynesville, Lola Shepard Brown, age 93, formerly of Sims Circle, died Thursday, August 6, 2009 at the Brian Center. A native of Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Ollie Mason Shepard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde H. Brown who died in 1987; a daughter, Earlene Brown York; one brother and three sisters. She retired from Champion International as a paper inspector with 38 years service and was a member of the Old Timers Club. Lola enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking and was a member of First Baptist Church of Waynesville. She is survived by one sister, Daisy Goodnough, of Louisa, VA; son-in-law, Lamar York, of Bethel; three grandchildren, Barry York of Wilmington, NC, Erika Ray and her husband, Wayne, of Winston Salem and Brandon York and his wife, Shelli, of High Point, NC and seven great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens with Reverend Dr. Robert Prince officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon prior to the service at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
