Lonnie Green

Waynesville, Lonnie Dee Green, age 75, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 22, 2008 at Memorial Mission Hospital. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late John and Tina Messer Green. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Green. He was a farmer all of his life. He had a special love for all children especially his daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and loved family get-togethers. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting and helping his wife deliver The Mountaineer newspaper. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jessie Messer Green; two daughters, Sue Green and Betty Green Trammell and her husband, Joe, of Waynesville; one sister, Edith Presnell, of Waynesville; four brothers, James Green of Clyde, Bill Green and wife, Nancy, and Norman Green and wife, Joann, all of Waynesville, and Lee Greene of New Jersey; four grandchildren, Barney and Tammey Trammell and James Lonnie and Trey Green; two great grandchildren, Ricky Escalona and Austin Green; and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 26, 2008 at Green Cemetery with Reverend Jerry Nelson officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 1:00 p.m. prior to the services at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Green family.
