Lorean Wood

Waynesville, Lorean Shepard Wood, age 83, passed away on Saturday at her residence. A native of Macon County, she was the daughter of the late Greeley and Lela Evans Shepard; her husband, Billy Boyce Wood, who died in 2002; two sisters, Bonnie Cabe and Louise Wells; and a special loving friend of nine years, Lawrence Waldroup. Lorean was employed at Dayco Inc. for 20 years before working at Enmark Gas Company for an additional 20 years with her husband. Lorean is survived by a sister, Ruth Wilson; a niece, Lynn Holland (Bobby) of Canton; and several other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Garrett-Hillcrest Mausoleum Chapel and will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Senior Resource Center Congregate Nutrition Program (Attn: Darlene) 2251 Old Balsam Road, Waynesville, NC 28786.
