Loree Wilson

Loree McCants Messer Wilson, age 80, passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2011 at Rowan Regional Medical Center. A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Albert and Minnie Williams McCants. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack Russell Messer, who died in 1974 and her second husband, Ben Ray Wilson, who died in 2009; a daughter, Betty Ann Messer; and two grandchildren, Danny Jenkins and Abby Star Messer. Loree worked as a waitress for over 25 years at Happy Hill Restaurant and was a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church. She enjoyed camping, canning, sewing, and music. She had the heart of a servant and helped so many family and friends. She is survived by two sons, James Russell Messer and his wife, Barbara, of Rockwell, NC and Jack Russell Messer, Jr. and his wife, Dawn, of Virginia Beach, VA; two daughters, Jackie Kitchens and her husband, Lee, of Spartanburg, SC and Diann Latta of Granite Quarry, NC; 13 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2011, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Jack W. Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
