Lorene Worley Edwards, a beacon of grace and warmth, left this world on November 2, 2024, at her cherished home in Canton, North Carolina. Born on August 17, 1937, in the same town that would forever cradle her heart, Lorene embodied the spirit of her beloved community.
A proud graduate of Blanton's Business College, she honed her skills in data processing and computer programming during a time when such were both groundbreaking and essential. Her professional journey led her to various institutions where she made indelible marks. Employed by Hadley Corporation, she met her husband, Charles Edwards, with whom she would share a profound companionship for 52 wonderful years. Her career also included notable contributions at Datamatic Services, Mission Hospital, and Sisters of Mercy, affirming her commitment to service and excellence.
A spirited gardener, she found joy in coaxing life from the earth, cultivating beauty under the sun. Her artistic flair flourished through quilting, where each stitch told a story and each fabric choice was a reflection of her creativity. Evenings often found her outdoors, heartily mowing her yard, embracing the fresh air and the satisfaction of a well-manicured landscape. As a devoted member of Rocky Face Baptist Church, Mrs. Edwards' faith was a guiding force in her life.
She cherished her family deeply, with connections that stretched beyond the immediate. Her beloved husband, Charles, along with many cherished nieces and nephews, formed the fabric of her family life, nurturing bonds filled with love and laughter.
Lorene is predeceased by her dear parents, William Calvin and Lissie Parham Worley, who instilled in her the values of kindness and hard work, guiding her throughout her remarkable life.
A graveside service will be held to honor her memory at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery in Canton at 2:30 pm Thursday, November 7, 2024 with Pastor Donnie Henson officiating.
