Clyde – Small in physical stature but big in every other way, it is with great sorrow that our family announces the passing of our beloved mother, (Frances) Lorraine Piculell Luckey, at 81, in Clyde, North Carolina on April 12, 2016. She was born during the Great Depression in Mineola, Long Island, N.Y., in 1934 to Otto and Margaret Piculell. One of five kids who had the good fortune to grow up in a pre-suburban and rural Long Island, which according to stories she recounted from her youth, was a vast and challenging natural landscape that she explored and conquered every day. She was a graduate of Mepham High School and of Morrisville State College in upstate New York, earning a degree in the dietary sciences. She was a loyal wife to the late Bob Luckey and a loving mother to her six children. A Service to be held on Saturday, April 16 at 2 p.m. at Mount Zion Methodist Church in the Upper Crabtree Community of Clyde, N.C.
