Waynesville, Louise Booth Williams Baker, age 77, died on November 5, 2016. She was born on January 16, 1939 at Crawford W Long Hospital in Atlanta, GA to the late James Booth Williams and Frances Elizabeth Verdery Williams of Monroe GA. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Baker was predeceased by her brother, James Booth Williams, Jr., of Atlanta, GA. Mrs. Baker's father was a prominent citizen of Monroe being a property owner, mayor and Director of the Federal Land Bank in Columbia, SC. Mrs. Baker is survived by her daughters, Frances Elizabeth Baker Brown and Jean Paul Baker Reid, their spouses Mark Cowan Brown and Walter Scott Reid III, her sister Elizabeth Williams McDonald and four grandchildren, Charles Reid Brown, Margaret Stormy Brown, Elizabeth Paulsen Reid and Baker Ross Reid. She was also survived by seven nieces and nephews. Mrs. Baker moved to Waynesville in 1977. She was a native of Monroe, GA, graduating from Monroe High School and attending Agnes Scott College in Decatur, GA for two years before transferring to The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi. After graduating from UNC, she became a lifelong Tar Heel and loved cheering on her beloved men's basketball team! In Waynesville, Mrs. Baker was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in the Mountains where she served two terms on the Vestry and served as Junior Warden. Since 1980, Mrs. Baker was also a member of Winchester Creek Country Club. Mrs. Baker was a realtor with Main Street Realty in Waynesville from 1982 to 2013. Her tag line was "a Georgia Peach turned Carolina Tar Heel". She was a member of the Board of Realtors, along with being a board member of The Community Foundation, Haywood Community College Foundation and the Fund for Haywood County. Mrs. Baker loved to travel, including visiting her children wherever they were living- Nevada, Virginia and overseas. A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Grace Church in the Mountains in Waynesville. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Friends attending the service are invited to bring food to re-stock the church food pantry. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Community Foundation of WNC (CFWNC), The Fund for Haywood County, P.O. Box 627, Waynesville, NC 28786-0627.
