Louise Downs

Waynesville, Louise Elliott Downs, age 82, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 surrounded by her family. A native of Macon County, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Oma Hall Elliott. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Edgar Downs, who passed away in 2002 and one sister, Freda Stewart. Louise was an active member of Green Valley Baptist Church and will be remembered for her dedicated walk as a Christian. She loved her family dearly, was a talented seamstress, and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She is survived by three sons, Reverend Bobby Downs and his wife, Connie, Gary Downs and his wife, Susan, of Waynesville and Ronnie Downs and his wife, Linda, of Candler; two daughters, Barbara Parton and her husband, Loyd, and Brenda Swanger and her husband, Reverend Johnny, of Waynesville; two sisters, Ruby Bradford of Montgomery, Alabama and Naomi Childers of Atlanta, Georgia; two brothers, Harold and Bruce Elliott, both of Franklin; eight grandchildren, Jeremy Parton and his wife, Amanda, Michael and Clint Downs, Kim Bradley and her husband, Tim, Reverend John Swanger and his wife, Michelle, Heidi Gaddis and her husband, Ricky, Brandy Downs, and Stacy Belan and her husband, Paul; and eleven great-grandchildren, Ellie Parton, Zachary, Isaac, Chloe, and Ian Downs, Jacob and Hattie Grace Bradley, Alex and Hayden Swanger, and Logan and Lexi Gaddis. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2011 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Ricky Wolfe and Reverend Johnny Swanger officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home and at other times, at the home of Brenda and Johnny Swanger.
