Louise Noland Leatherwood, age 100, was born on January 18, 1925, in Haywood County, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2025, at Smoky Mountain Nursing and Rehab. A beloved figure to her family and community, Louise led a full life dedicated to her passions and loved ones.
Retiring after several years from Haywood Community College, where she worked at the Bookstore, Louise became known for her commitment to education and her warm spirit. Beyond her career, she was an avid collector of dolls and had a profound love for reading. Louise found joy in the beauty of flowers, with Irises holding a special place in her heart. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, as she was a devoted member of the Methodist church.
Louise is survived by her daughter, Linda Rogers (Harold), and her son, James "Jim" Leatherwood (Mary). She also leaves behind a legacy of love through her four grandchildren: David T. Leatherwood (Amber), James Leatherwood, Jr. (Carmon), Sammie Leffler (David), and James Glen Rogers (Shelia). In addition to her grandchildren, Louise cherished her five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons, as well as one niece and two great-nieces who will remember her fondly.
Louise joins her beloved husband, James H. Leatherwood, who preceded her in death in 2016. She was also preceded by her parents, Grover Noland and Galar Baldwin Noland, as well as her siblings: two sisters, Letha Clay and Atan Howell, and one brother, Sam Noland.
As we remember Louise Noland Leatherwood, we celebrate her warmth, her kindness, and the vibrant life she lived, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
