Waynesville, Louise Bryson Messer, age 94, of Jonathan Creek Road, passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2011 at the Brian Center. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Harley and Fannie Caldwell Bryson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Jennings Messer, who died in 1990, and two sisters, Opal Crawford and Sara Reynolds. She retired from Dayco with 30 years service. She joined Dellwood Baptist Church in 1951 and served as primary Sunday School teacher and was a member of the church choir. Louise enjoyed camping at Cataloochee, crocheting, quilting, and crafting handmade towels to give to her visitors. She is survived by a daughter, Earleen Howell and her husband, James, of Waynesville; one son, H. Ralph Messer and his wife, Angie, also of Waynesville; one sister, Lillian Crawford, of Asheville; two grandchildren, Andrew Messer of Myrtle Beach and Michael Messer and his wife, Alisha, of Waynesville; and four great grandchildren, Bryson, Keaton, Hanna, and Tyler Messer. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Bobby Rogers, Reverend Barry Willett, and Reverend Wayne Willett officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Bobby, Billy, and Joe Jack Messer, Harry Valentine, Charles Wright, and Jim Schick. Honorary pallbearers will be Bruce Crawford, Dennis Grahl, Neil Howell, and Stuart Matney. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services.
