Louise Rathbone

Waynesville, Louise Messer Rathbone, age 88, of Monta Vista Drive, died on Sunday, November 2, 2008 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, and was the daughter of the late James and Sally Vess Messer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank C. Rathbone who died in 2007; two daughters, Peggy Buchanan and Carole Smith; two sisters and two brothers including James C. Messer. Mrs. Rathbone enjoyed being with her family and was a member of First Baptist Church of Waynesville. She is survived by one son, Stan Rathbone, and his wife, Shirley of Waynesville; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. Robert Prince and Reverend Robert E. Boggan, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett- Hillcrest Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Jim and Jeff Messer, Terry Smith, Perry Buchanan, Kevin Bowen, and Greg Thompson. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home and at other times the family will be at the home of Stan Rathbone 273 Monte Vista Drive, Waynesville.
