Louise Stone

April 20, 1910 — August 24, 2008

Maggie Valley, Louise Ellen Stone, age 98, of Maple Drive, died Sunday, August 24, 2008 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native of Terrell County, GA. she had resided in Jacksonville FL. before moving to Haywood County in 1960. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Winnie Anderson Binion. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur W. Stone who died in 1991 and three brothers. She was a member of Barberville Baptist Church. Louise and her husband, Arthur owned Stone Flight Service in Jacksonville, FL. after retiring to Haywood County she worked for Maggie Valley and Haywood County Chamber of Commerce. She was also a volunteer for the American Red Cross and District Court Judges until 2004. She is survived by a niece, Brenda Slappey, special friend Linda F. Rathbone and her husband, Joe, of Waynesville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 27, 2008 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Jack Holland officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett -Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Barberville Baptist Church Building Fund, 441 Russ Avenue, Waynesville, NC 28786.
