Waynesville, NC-Lowell Glen Schofield, age 79, of Haywood County, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 07, 2006 after a brief battle with cancer. A native of Chicago, IL, he had resided in Haywood County for the past 19 years. He was the son of the late Floyd and Gladys Veit Schofield and was also preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Schofield. A salesman for 30 years at Electrolux, he retired in 1987. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lake Junaluska and a US Veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Gladys Graybill Schofield; two daughters, Alice Drake and husband, Jack, of Coulterville, CA and Tara Shoro and husband, Dave, of Memphis, TN; four sons, Terry Schofield and wife, Cheryl, of Largo, FL, Michael Simpson and wife, Cameron, and Tracy Schofield and wife, Lisa, both of St. Petersburg, FL and Timothy Schofield and wife, Angela, of San Antonio, TX; three step-sons, Randy Keener of Ft. Collins, CO, and Gary and Dennie Keener of Waynesville; one brother, Kenneth Schofield of Milwaukee, WI; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 10, 2006 at First Baptist Church of Lake Junaluska with Reverend Jimmy Huey and Reverend Nick Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 11, 2006 at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Lake Junaluska, 154 Sunset Ridge Road, Clyde, NC 28721.
