Lowery Conard

Waynesville, Lowery "Larry" Conard, age 71, of Lariat Loop, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Jack and Lela Haney Conard and also preceded in death by a son, Dale Jaynes Sr. and one brother, Jerry Conard. Larry was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam Era and worked as a truck driver for 35 years. He enjoyed fishing and restoring antique cars. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Genevee Ledford Conard; one daughter, Mary Sue Franklin and her husband, Adam; two sons, Bobby Ray, of the home and Dean Ray and his wife, Lorie; one brother, Buddy Conard; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 3, 2014 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Robert Stiles officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery with Military services conducted by VFW Post 5202 and American Legion 47. Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Davis, David Whitlock, Adam Franklin, Bobby Maxwell, Dale Jaynes, Jr. and Makhi Rogers. Bobby Ray will serve as an honorary pallbearer. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 prior at the funeral home.
