Lucille Brock

- Lucille Willis Brock, age 94, died Friday, December 7, 2007 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. She was a native of Clay County and a daughter of the late Fred O. and Mary "Mae" Arrant Scroggs. She was preceded in death her husband, L.P. Brock, who died in 1997; one daughter, Lorraine Ray, and one grandson, Jason Ray. Lucille had a passion for crafts after learning to weave at John C. Campbell Folk School. She eventually taught weaving at Haywood Community College. She also enjoyed canning and gardening. She is survived by two sons, Ronnie Brock of Charlotte, and Fred Brock and his wife, Pam, of Candler; a son-in-law, Charles Ray of Clyde; two sisters, Wanda Hampton of Waynesville, and Blanche Smith of Blairsville, GA; one brother, John C. Scroggs and his wife, Gerry, of Clyde; six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 10, 2007 at Crawford/ Ray Memorial Gardens with Reverend Bruce Cayton officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at Wells Funeral Home in Canton. Memorials may be made to the Scroggs Family Cemetery, attn: John C.
