Lucille Cannon

Lucille Cannon Canton-Lucille Swanger Cannon-92-formerly of Rhoda Street in Canton went to be with her Lord on Friday, April 23, 2004 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Rufus Fulton and Velda Gragg Swanger and was the widow of the late William A. "Bill" Cannon who died in 1997. She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Larry Cannon three sisters, Ramell Mashburn, Mozelle Clontz and Lorene Donaldson and three bothers, Garland, Herbert and Chester Swanger. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and had retired from Champion International after 25 years service. She is survived by a sister and her husband, Genevieve and Howard Reeves of Canton; two sisters-in-law, Grace Swanger and Betty Swanger, several nieces and nephews and cousins. A special thank you to all the nice nurses and helpers at Silver Bluff Village, to Dr. Jane Brummer for her care and to a special friend and helper when she needed her, Betty Burnette Brown. Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, April 26th in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes with the Reverends Dennis Ruff and Darrell Webb officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Monday prior to the service and at other time will be at 20 Rhoda Street in Canton. Pallbearers will be Martin Reeves, Rex Bolden, Gene Donaldson, C.W. Ballard, Rufus Donaldson and Johnny Rhodarmer. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church at 21 Phillips Street, Canton, NC 28716 or to one's favorite charity.
