Canton – Lucille Williams Craft, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. Lucy was born in Hart County, Georgia and resided in Lake Park and Tequesta, Florida for thirty years before moving to Haywood County in 1992. She was the daughter of the late Ira and Eula Mae Dyar Williams, and was also preceded in death by four brothers, W. J., Frank, Fred, and Robert Williams, and one infant sister. Lucy will be remembered for being a loving and caring person to all who knew her. She was a very talented seamstress and enjoyed many hobbies including crocheting, basket weaving, quilting and canning. Lucy adored living among the beauty of her beloved Western North Carolina Mountains. She is survived by her husband, Toby, of Canton; one son, Pat Craft, and his wife, Bonnie, of South Carolina; one daughter, Laura Jo Thompson, and her husband, C. J., of Texas; one sister, Lois Costin, of Indiana; one brother, Jimmy Williams, of Florida; four grandchildren, Alyson D'Alessandro, and her husband, John, Derek Craft, Sarah Thompson, and Greg Thompson, and his wife, Tanya; two great-grandchildren, Gavin and Coen Thompson; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Bethel United Methodist Church with the Reverend David Russell officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 p.m. prior to the service. Private inurnment will be held at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 804 Sonoma Road, Waynesville, NC 28786.
