Lucille Elkins

"1927 – 2016" Canton – Lucille Carswell Elkins, 89, passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Autumn Care of Saluda Nursing Home. A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Marvin "Bud" Terrell and Pearl Melinda Duckett Carswell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Doice Elkins, who died in 2008. Lucille lived most of her life in Haywood County and was owner and operator of Lucille's Beauty Shop. She will be remembered for her skills in the kitchen where she enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. Lucille was a member of Rockwood United Methodist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Lynn Al-Fandi and husband, Khader, of Hendersonville; two sisters, Barbara Ann Bolden of Pennsylvania and Sue Cox of Canton; one brother, Joe Bob Carswell of Canton; two grandchildren, Justin Deitz and Sierra Bradshaw; and four great-grandchildren, Mysti, Justin, Jr., and Kayden Deitz, and Marshall Lupton. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 1, 2016 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Eric Hill and Reverend Steve Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County, P.O. Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.
