Lucille Hilton

Lucille Higgins Floyd Hilton, age 82, of 440 Dogwood Road died Tuesday, August 29, 2006, at the Brian Center in Weaverville. She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and the daughter of the late Pete N. and Flora Etta Clark Higgins. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Fred E. Floyd who died in 1979 and two daughters, Anita Marie Floyd and Barbara Jean Floyd. She was a homemaker and a member of Morning Star United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Blanton's Buisness School. She is survived by her husband of 17 years, Commander David E. Hilton of Elizabeth City, NC; a daughter, Flora Lynn Odom of Marlton, NJ and Fredricka Hargis of Louisville, KY; a sister, Thelma Pressley of Asheville; a brother, Tommy Higgins of Canton; a stepson, David Hilton, Jr. of MD; a stepdaughter, Kay Hilton of Elizabeth City; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a special cousin, Linda Wells of Asheville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2006, at the Canton chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Brother Brandon Hargis officiating. Burial will follow at Morning Star Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
