Lucille Norman

Waynesville, Lucille Jones Norman, age 92, of Big Cove Road, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at MedWest Haywood. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Talmage and Oberia Buchanan Jones. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Norman, who died in 2002; a son, Bruce Norman; two sisters, Nettie Norman and Hettie Frady; and one brother, Julius Jones. Lucille was a former employee of Dayco and later was a cook for the Heath Lodge. She loved reading her Bible and was the oldest member of Grandview Baptist Church where she taught Sunday-School for many years. She also loved to sit on her porch and cook for her family. She is survived by a son, Mike Norman and his wife, Dottie; a sister, Jessie Davis; one brother, Cecil Jones; daughter-in-law, Jane Norman; three grandchildren, Mickie, Todd, and Tonya Norman; four great-grandchildren, Eli and Sara Woody and Emily and John Norman; as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Grandview Baptist Church with Reverend Terry Stockman and Reverend Wayne Willett officiating. Burial will follow at Buchanan Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be John Norman, Eli Woody, Leonard Davis, Loye Trantham, Scott Forga, and Clint Mull. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to services at the church and at other times, at the home of her son.
