Lucille Parker

Lucille Haney Parker, age 99, went home to be with the Lord, one day after her 99th birthday, surrounded by family and friends on Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Alfred Joseph and Anna Lou Ellen Mathis Haney. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Lee Parker who died in 1996; a son, Jerry Lee Parker; a son-in-law, Clyde Thompson; a great grandson, Jared Blake Edwards, six sisters; and three brothers. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Lucille will always be remembered for her love of the Lord, family, cooking, sewing, quilting, fishing, and hunting. She is survived by a daughter, Anna Lou Thompson of Canton; a daughter-in-law, Joan Parker of Canton; a special niece, Marilyn Moore and her husband, Wade, of Lawndale, NC; five grandchildren, Michael Parker of Candler, Rhonda Edwards of Canton, Danny Thompson and wife, Susan, of Smyrna, TN, John K. Thompson and wife, Kimberly, of Canton, and Tina Masciarelli and husband, Alex of Waynesville; nine great-grandchildren, Hope Rhodarmer and husband, Richard, Melanie Akin and husband, Jeremy, Russ Edwards, Kevin Thompson and wife, Amesha, Laura Thurman and husband, Caleb, Beth Thompson, and Sophia, Fiona, and Olivia Masciarelli; and five great-great grandchildren, Ben Brendell, Tyler, Trinity Justice, and Mia Akin, and Bonnie Denise Collard. Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2009, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. Roy Kilby officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:30 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Michael Parker, Danny Thompson, John K. Thompson, Alex Masciarelli, Russ Edwards, and Phil Libby. A special thanks is extended to the staff of Silver Bluff Nursing Home.
