Lucille Wooten

December 3, 1928 — November 20, 2011

Lucille Mann Wooten, age 82, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2011, at MedWest Haywood. A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late P. C. and Mattie Franklin Mann. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, W.R. "Bill" Wooten, who died in 2009; and a brother, Carl Lee Mann. Lucille was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. She was also an active member in the North Carolina State Highway Patrol Auxiliary. Lucille was highly organized in every facet of her life and was an active member of First Baptist Church of Mocksville, North Carolina. She is survived by twin sons, Garry Wooten and his wife, Sheila, and Larry Wooten and his wife, Lydia, all of Canton; two sisters, Peggy Robinson of Canton, and Mary Sue Rhodarmer of Clyde; one brother, William "Pete" Mann and his wife, Nancy, of Canton; six grandchildren, Heather Wooten, Brent Wooten and his wife, Stacy, Julie Smith and her husband, Shannon, Jamie Seagraves and her husband, Anthony, Tim Owens and his wife, Danielle, and Scott Owens and his wife, Amy; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her special cat, Smokey. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, November 23, 2011, at First Baptist Church of Clyde with the Reverend Dr. T. David Phillips and the Reverend Heath Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 noon prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol Auxiliary, c/o Marcia Culler, 409 Turn Berry Drive, Mebane, NC 27302.
