Lucy Franklin

Waynesville, Lucy Putnam Franklin, age 101, passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. Lucy was the daughter of the late George and Ethel Wright Putnam. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Franklin, who died in 1981; a son, Hugh Franklin; two sisters, Loretta and Lura; three brothers, Virgil, Bud and Mont Putnam. Lucy was of the Baptist Faith and enjoyed cooking and canning. Lucy is survived by her daughter, Jane Hannah, and her husband, Johnny, of Canton; three sons, Don Putnam, of Mayer, Arizona, Jerry Franklin, and his wife, Jeanette, of Waynesville and Stewart Franklin, of Clyde; two sisters, Edith Downs, of Clyde and Janice Silvers, of Canton; and a brother, Hugh Putnam, of Hickory; nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2017 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Gary Putnam officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
