Lucy Harkins

Lucy May Wright Harkins, age 65, passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at MedWest –Haywood. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Margaret Henson Wright. She retired from Haywood County Hospital in 1994 as an LPN with 30 years of service. Lucy was a very loving, caring, and devoted wife. She loved animals and enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, James "Jimbo" Edward Harkins; an adopted grandson, Jesse Rhodes of Canton; and a brother-in-law, Doug Harkins of Waynesville. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, November 16, 2012 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Darrell Webb officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Newfound Road. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 3:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Haywood County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1275, Canton, NC 28716.
