Lucy Holcombe

Canton- Lucy Parris Holcombe- age 98 died Sunday, March 26, 2006 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. She was a native of Dillsboro but had been a resident of Haywood County for a number of years. She was a daughter of the late Monroe and Dora Collins Parris and the wife of the late Harry Collins Holcombe who died in 1991. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Beulah Mae Parris Webster, Gracie Parris and Eleanor Corena Parris Edwards and four brothers, Roscoe Ewell Parris, Gilbert Monroe Parris, Richard Wilson Parris and Donald Julius Parris. Mrs. Holcombe was a member of Canton First Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Canton High School and attended Western Carolina Teachers College and Asheville Normal College. She loved genealogical work and enjoyed solving puzzles. She is survived by one daughter, Harriet Lorraine Holcombe and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2006 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Jack Sammons and Reverend Dr. Brian Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on the Old Clyde Road. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 prior to the service at the funeral home.
