Lucy Smith

Lucy Ann Smith, age 65, of Canton, died Saturday, January 20, 2007, at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. She was a native of Haywood County and the daughter of the late James and Delitha Franklin Russell. She was also preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters. Lucy had two passions: camping and eating Chinese food. She also loved to play Rummy and was a champion at Hearts. She was a loving wife, mother, and Nanny and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, James Doyle Smith; one daughter, Donna Caldwell and her husband, Ned, of Canton; two sons, Keith Smith and his wife, Marjorie, of Marshall and Greg Smith and his wife, Missy, of Candler; four sisters, Dorothy Justice, Gail Owenby and her husband, David, Janey Stevens and her husband, Johnny and Ruby Hannah, all of Canton; four grandchildren, Jessie, Brian, Tanner and Starr Smith and one great-grandchild, Brandon Caldwell. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 23, 2007, at the Chapel of Wells Funeral Home of Canton, with the Reverend Keith Clark and Reverend Bruce Cayton officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 22, 2007, here at the funeral home.
