Lucy Weatherholtz

Lucy Jones Weatherholtz, age 76, died on Thursday, March 3, 2011, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Volusia County, Florida. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Erastus Alvin and Clementine "Tennie" Rhinehart Jones. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Matral Green and Margaret Jones and three brothers, Marshall, Alvin, and Ray Jones. She retired in 1995 with 21 years of service from the Gwinnett County School System in Georgia as a secretary to the superintendent and she was a member of First United Methodist Church of Orange Park, FL. Lucy enjoyed cruising on Carnival Cruise Line with family and friends, however, her grandchildren were her life and she loved attending their sporting events, especially softball. Lucy was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Marshall W. Weatherholtz; two sons, Jeff Weatherholtz and his wife, Kathy, of Panama City, FL and Joel Weatherholtz and his wife, Becky, of Fleming Island, FL; two sisters, Jean Sluder and her husband, Ed, of Candler and Berindina Dolassek of Clyde; a brother, Reeves Jones and his wife, Jo, of Ocala, FL; five grandchildren, Erica Cody and her husband, Scott, Jeff Weatherholtz and his wife, Nadia, Josh McElwaney, Sara Weatherholtz and Jacob Weatherholtz; and five great-grandchildren, Karah Weatherholtz, Nicholas, Benjamin, and Eli Cody, and Alexander "Sasha" Weatherholtz. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2011, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Katherine K. Crain and Reverend Cheryl Skinner officiating. Burial will follow at Fincher's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
